In our six degrees network this song occupies the interstice between Edie, The Science of Sleep and The Velvet Underground. I watched Sleep and A Scanner Darkly within the space of a couple of days and in a comparison, Sleep was fantastic and Scanner bland. Am I the only one or did Scanner feel like an update of Soylent Green?
Scanner is a work of intelligent animation. Somehow I feel like the subjects discussed in Scanner and Soylent Green are quite apart. Scanner is more about the nature of split personality and human psyche while Soylent is about the population explosion and all – I could be wrong though.
Perhaps its the common theme of Sci-Fi Noir that brings them together.
I would love to watch Sleep.
Thanks,
Gautam,
I like your piece on sci-fi noir.
