Gabriel Cornelius Ritter von Max (August 23, 1840, Prague – November 24, 1915, München) was a Prague-born Austrian painter. His themes were parapsychology and mysticism. He surrounded himself and with monkeys and painted them often, sometimes portraying them as human.

    once again you and I have saved images in common. I have the katharina Emmerich pictue of the woman holding her head too. it’s beautiful. hadn’t seen the others before this though. you always have the best stuff on your site

    Yes,

    Many of us have collecting imagery from around the web for years now. Of many pictures, we do not know where the pictures originated. I find this quite fascinating, this anonymous iconography. For example, in my local club hangs a very fuzzy picture of a bare chested girl with the arm of an orangutan around her. Nobody knows where they got it from.
