Francis Poulenc and Jean-Pierre Rampal play the second movement of Poulenc’s flute sonata.
Francis Poulenc, French composer (1899 – 1963) was an openly gay French composer and a member of the French group Les Six. He is known for such works as The Breasts of Tiresias and Les Biches.
Dont forget Le Voix Humaine. And Dialogues of the Carmelites! I worked on that piece last year and was fascinated by his return to more traditional liturgical modes in his later life. If anyone doubts Poulenc’s technique, they should listen to his choral pieces from Carmelites.
Hi Donny,
Listening to La Voix Humaine by Michelle Canniccioni now, great piece indeed.
