“I am the Black Gold of the Sun” by the Rotary Connection (Wmc#29)
While researching world peace in relation to Georges Bataille, I found Splendor Solis, which reminded me of Rotary Connection‘s “I am the Black Gold of the Sun” voiced by the late Minnie Riperton (of “Lovin’ You” YouTubefame).
Hey Jan–
Thanks for sharing this YouTube vid. I’ve been a fan of Minnie Riperton for a while, but hadn’t ever done any research on here, and therefore had never encountered this lovely band. I would venture to say that this is honestly one of the best songs that I’ve heard in several months, and it grabs me in a way that hasn’t been happening that much lately. So thank you!
Hi Mike
Nice to hear from you and glad you liked it.
You may want to check the work of the producer: Charles Stepney.

I heard this when it first came out. I had lost the album through life’s many changes, but have never forgotten its power. On one of my internet walkabouts – from 5th Dimension to Friends of Distinction to Minnie Ripperton to Rotary Connection to actually hearing it again – what a trip!!
Amazing. It was great 37 years ago – the record on a truly hi-fi system with huge woofers was exhilarating – and I see it has the ability to touch folks over a third of a century later.
Thank you for posting.
It is indeed an exceptional record, thanks for sharing.
