Visions of Suffering (2006) – Andrey Iskanov

ESOTIKA EROTICA PSYCHOTICA is a blog by Mike who decribes it in his own words as a blog about “Sex, art, horror and experimentation in world film.”

Every film includes a review and a generous amount of photos.

The title is inspired by the Italian title of Radley Metzger’s The Lickerish Quartet: Esotika Erotika Psicotika.

Previous entries include:

And his blogroll features:

I’m looking forward to reading more, not in the least because I’ve never heard of the films he mentions. It looks like Mike is discovering the cult hits and sleepers of the coming decades.

Hey thanks! I’ve been reading your site for quite a few years (seems like for the most part, pre-blog format, I was never able to spend less than an hour or two just going through everything), and actually had been planning an email to you to thank you for your resources.

Also, I had a question from a former post of yours. You mention Robbe-Grillet’s Slow Slidings of Pleasure, and you post a screenshot that I’d never seen before. What’s the source of the screenshot? Slow Slidings of Pleasure is one of two (the other being N. Took the Dice) Robbe-Grillet’s films that I’ve not yet been able to track down, and the only place I’ve been able to find it was on Shocking Videos.

Jan — Thanks for turning me on to Mike’s blog. I posted a link to it (and to you) in my comments just now. By coincidence, I had both Lickerish Quartet and Teorema on a top 10 list I posted a few weeks ago.

Mike — I look forward to following your blog.

    Mike,

Glad to see you’ve been enjoying my work, I’m certainly enjoying your selection. I think I got the photo from here..

    Girish,

Most welcome, I had seen your Lickerish Quartet post, I must admit that I’ve only been able to catch one Metzger film: The Image, but that was well worth the wait (about two to three years). Also, the circumstances in which I got the see the film were special. I found it right here in a small shop which had been located there for several years, but which I had never discovered. I like to wait for certain films to come to me, rather than chasing after them, if you know what I mean. Still, having seen Teorema a couple of years back, I’d love to see Radley Metzger’s film.

I’m glad that you picked up on the post, as I always am when you do.

    Update,

Mike’s just posted a link to a new film blog Wet Streets, a friend of Mike’s is a friend of mine: so here’s the link, what an evocative title too.
