RIP Norman Gimbel (1927 – 2018)
This happened in 2018 but I’ve only just found out.
Norman Gimbel was an American lyricist of popular songs, television and movie themes known for the lyrics of such songs as “¿Quién será?” (1953), “Meditation” (1961), “How Insensitive” (1963), “Água de Beber” (1963), “Summer Samba” (1964), “The Girl from Ipanema” (1964) and “Killing Me Softly with His Song” (1972).
RIP Richard Howard (1929 – 2022)
Richard Howard was an American poet, literary critic, essayist and teacher. As translator, he was known for translations such as The Fantastic: A Structural Approach to a Literary Genre (1970).
RIP Alan Sheridan (1934 – 2015)
This happened at least five years ago but it escaped my attention.
Alan Sheridan was an English author and translator. He translated Gilles and Jeanne (1983) by Michel Tournier.
The death of Sheridan came to my attention while documenting Pornographic Archaeology which I read thoroughly vertically last week.
