RIP Martin Duffy (1967 – 2022)

“Loaded” (1990)

“We willen ons bezatten.”
“En we willen ons amuseren.”
“En dat gaan we doen.”
“We gaan ons amuseren.”
“We gaan feesten.”

The Wild Angels

RIP Martin.

RIP Chick Corea (1941 – 2021)

Was Dog a Doughnut?” (1977)

Chick Corea was a legendary American composer working in jazz, mainly playing keyboards.

He is a celebrated name in jazz fusion, but he never actively appeared on my radar.

So, I give you “Was Dog a Doughnut?” (1977) by Cat Stevens on which Chick plays keyboards. This did came to my attention in the period when I was researching late 20th century nightclub music.

RIP Howard Wales (1943 – 2020)

Howard Wales was a keyboardist best known for his collaborations with Jerry Garcia in the early 1970s.

However, solo, he produced little gems such as this “Rendez-Vous With The Sun, Part. 2” on his album of almost the same name in 1976.

The tracks is also included in DJ Harvey’s cult mix “Sarcastic Disco Volume 2” which you will find on Soundcloud.

“Rendez-Vous With The Sun, Part. 2”

RIP and thank you for the music.

RIP Max Crook (1936 – 2020)

Max Crook was an American musician whose name is virtually unknown.

“Runaway” keyboard solo.

Some research yields his co-authorship of “Runaway” (1961), the Del Shannon song.

In that song he also plays the keyboard solo.

That solo was played on a self-invented electric keyboard called the “Maximillian” which was based the clavioline, which was in turn a variation on the Musitron.
